I believe that in order to understand a patient, I must spend adequate time with him or her.  I enjoy getting to know each patient and developing a professional, collaborative relationship.  I listen carefully and respond to each as a unique individual.  Differences are considered, and therapies are designed in partnership.” — Kara

Welcome to my practice website.   If you’ve come here, you may have been diagnosed recently with depression, anxiety, or another psychiatric disorder.  Possibly, you have been prescribed medications from your primary care physician and now want to consult a specialist.  Alternatively, you may be searching for a psychiatrist who will spend more time with you than others have in the past .  Or maybe you don’t even have a name for what seems to be bothering you, but you know you haven’t been feeling like yourself and are seeking some answers.  I can help.

My practice probably differs from other medical or psychiatric offices that you may have visited.  I have a relatively small, private pay practice.  I don’t even employ a receptionist.  What this means for you, is that I personally will schedule appointments and return phone calls if you have clinical questions or concerns.  I strive to spend enough time with patients to get to know them as individuals.  For example, my initial evaluation of a patient includes 90 minutes of face-to-face time, while many psychiatric evaluations are 40-60 minutes in length.  I believe that in order to understand a patient, I must spend adequate time with him or her.
